Twisted Homily

HARK!

For God is love

and beauty

and peace

and goodness

too

so sings

the maggot

chorus

feasting

on

the scabs

of starving children

in far-off lands,

neither here,

nor near,

so never fear

such mere abstractions

and yet...

what's so clear

before our eyes

(look around!)

is God's redeeming love

and sublime creation

SO MUCH LOVE!

I feel it in my aching heart

when my belly is stuffed

and my bed warm

for surely all's well

when my accounts swell

and my house

is a happy home

with manicured lawn

and two-car garage

WHY

YES

INDEED

I proclaim once more

all's well in the world

MY WORLD

anyway;

yours can go to hell,

because what are

you to me

after

all,

but mere

abstraction?

and so I offer

THANKSGIVING!

For God is love

and grace

and mercy

and kindness

too

say it now

for you know it's true

that right this minute

some holy chorus

made in God's image

sings its decadent song

before gorging

on the carcass

of some

gentle

little

creature

of God

AMEN!

but have no fear

this is how it should be

this is the way of the world,

so as long as we're fed,

let's rejoice in fellowship,

snuggled safely in

this warm and peaceful feeling

bathed in platitudes

posing as wisdom

as we chosen ones

revel in

the Holy Spirit

do you feel it

do you feel it DO YOU FEEL IT

brothers and sisters?

HALLELUJAH!

Praise be to

God on the highest

for granting us

this boon

this largesse

this fridge full of shit

kept far away

from danger

we are

(and maggots too)

nestled safely in

this septic heaven

(or anti-septic hell)

of stainless steel

and glowing screens

where abundance

dulls the mind

and pixels

warp the vision

tricking us to embrace

the damning error

of believing that

God is Love

Only
